Things for children to do in Malta-Young People’s Activities
One of the major considerations for any family is going to be how to keep the children happy when on holiday particularly if the children are of different ages. This is really not going to be a problem in Malta.
The history of Malta holidays has really been a history of family holidays. Malta is a perfect place for all the family to have fun.
The Maltese have family oriented social lives and children are welcomed everywhere. You will often see young, well behaved children dinning with their parents late into the evening. Don’t be afraid to take your children with you for evening dinner, they will be made welcome.
Children’s Activities
Beaches-Mellieha Bay
Beaches are varied in Malta and fall into two major categories.

Sandy Beaches are great for the smaller children and the best by far for children’s activities is Mellieha Bay. This is a shallow bay which has nice quality sand and all the the fun any family will want. There are a good selection of food and drink restaurants and take-aways. Lots of beach fun can be had with hire centres for speedboats and jet skis. There is an amazing bouncy castle type water fun area where your children and you can wear yourself out on the inflatable slides and assault course.
Mellieha is a great day out for all the family in the summer with one of the best beaches in the Mediterranean.
Swimming and Snorkeling
There is fantastic swimming and snorkeling from most costal areas and cities most children simply have the best fun with a mask on. They will need to be supervised as you would expect and you will also find lots of training courses for children of all ages. It is essential that you bring a mask with you to Malta you will be absolutely amazed what you will see by simply ducking your head in the water!
Water Parks

There is both a water park and an aquatics theme centre in Malta. Both are very popular and are a good way to spend a day in the summer. They are located together and can be visited in one full day. You can get there quite easily by taxi +356 999 777 61, www.maltataxionline.com.

Popeye Village
The village was constructed as the set of a 1980’s film. It has been developed into a mini theme park that is very popular with children.


Go Carting
A fun activity for all the family can be go cart racing. You can find a track near the national stadium and a trip there could be incorporated with a trip to Rabat and Mdina which are both very close.

The track has both novice and true racing carts so there is racing for every level of driver. The track complex has a snack type restaurant and bar. You will find all the children’s favorite foods and a selection of Burgers and Fries. The non racers will be able to enjoy a drink while watching the racing.Teenagers

This area is popular with all young people where they can meet friends and also have lots to do. In addition there is good swimming at adjacent St George’s Bay. Bay street is a good place for some evening shopping followed by a quick meal.
Adventure Park
An Adventure Park on a section of the former runway at Ta' Qali has been opened in December 2009
The park has been developed by the Resources Ministry and by sponsorships by Bank of Valletta and the US Embassy.

It has five areas for children, one multi-purpose space, and a high rope course for young adults. More adventure equipment will be added next year, including a climbing tower, and a cycling and jogging track.
The project includes five water features, public conveniences, catering facilities and changing rooms. There will also be play equipment for persons with disabilities. The National Park complex offers a nice afternoon out with plenty to keep the children happy!
